Plant Sciences Design Instructor {2 years GTA, 3 years faculty}.

Taught 500+ students/year. Introductory and advanced level courses. Course creation and curriculum creation, lesson planning, class schedules, inventory management, design demonstration, and student evaluation.

PLT SCI 2220 Introduction to Floral Design. Introduction to the basics of floral design with special emphasis on design mechanics, flower processing, care and handling. Wrote new curriculum in 2009 and developed the course to teach and accommodate nearly 400 students each year. Intense product coordination, management and budgeting for creating weekly designs.

PLT SCI 2221 Everyday Floral Design. Intermediate floral design course expanding skills from introductory floral design with emphasis on the elements and principles of design. Created curriculum and offered the first course in 2008. Adapted and developed the course to accommodate nearly 100 students each year. Intense product coordination, management and budgeting for creating weekly designs.

PLT SCI 3002 Computer Aided Landscape Design. Introductory landscape design course focusing on the use of a computer to assist with designs. Created curriculum and offered the course in 2010. Worked with small, hands-on classes of less than 10 students.

PLT SCI 3220 Special Occasion Floral Design. Advanced floral design course with emphasis in silk décor, sympathy design and public ceremony design. Created curriculum and offered the first course in 2009. Worked with small, hands-on classes of less than 15 students with critical evaluations and critiques along with several multi-step projects.

PLT SCI 3222 Retail Floral Management. Course focusing on all areas of retail floral management: business finance, marketing, products and services, employee management and customer service. Created curriculum and offered the course for the first time in 2013. Upper-lever course focusing with heavy student evaluation and several multi-step projects.

PLT SCI 3221 Wedding Floral Design. Advanced floral design course with emphasis on design floral pieces for weddings. Created curriculum and offered the course for the first time in 2009. Worked with small, hands-on classes of less than 15 students with critical evaluations and critiques along with several multi-step projects.

PLT SCI 3002 Landscape Graphics. Introductory landscape design course focusing on the use different drawing mediums to create landscape designs. Created curriculum and offered the course in 2011. Worked with small, hands-on classes of less than 10 students to improve drawing techniques.

Public Design Classes. Through Tiger Garden and SAIFD hosted several hands-on public design courses. Created curriculum and adapted the programs to meet a wide variety of ages and needs based on the group.

AIFD sponsor and advisor for the University of Missouri Student Chapter of the American Institute of Floral Designers. The mission of AIFD is to advance the art of professional floral design through education, service and leadership, and to recognize the achievement of excellence in this art form.

Tiger Garden is a floral shop that operates in conjunction with the floral design program at the University of Missouri. Day-to-day business operations, financial management, marketing, student management and shop employee mentor, inventory and account management, lead floral design educator, product quality management control, and customer relations.

Floral design academic curriculum creation.

Expanded floral design course offerings at the University of Missouri from one course to five; increased floral design section offerings; increased student enrollment in floral design courses every semester; and retained multiple repeat students.

Small business creation.

Started Florassentials in January 2010; ended first year as a profitable business; multiple positive customer reviews; and steady increase of new and interested customers.

Small business management.

Lead Tiger Garden to first financially successful year; increased revenue by 60% in first year of management; reached revenues in 2013 that were nearly 10 times 2006 revenue; successfully implemented new products; and created valuable relationships with customers on and off campus.
